What I like most about Banks the Koala Rattle & Scrunch is how engaging it is for babies through both sound and texture. The gentle rattle noise and crinkly fabric offer sensory stimulation that captures a baby’s attention without being overwhelming. Its adorable koala design adds a charming, playful touch, making it both a toy and a comfort object. It’s lightweight, easy for small hands to grip, and clearly made with attention to both safety and fun. I’m impressed by Winnie Parkes’ clear commitment to creating safe, sustainably made toys with a low environmental footprint. Their use of non-toxic, baby-safe materials and efforts to support local production or fair labor practices show real integrity. The brand seems to truly care about producing items that are not only beautiful and functional, but also aligned with broader values of responsibility and respect for the planet and people.
Banks the koala has an adorable design and really captures my daughter’s attention with its scrunchy leaves and simple colouring. She is able to follow Banks around during tummy time, helping to strengthen her neck. Banks is also a good size allowing her to nibble without the risk of suffocation. It is easy for her to hold and soft enough that if she hits herself in the face with it (she is still learning what hands are!), it doesn’t bother her. Banks is easily cleaned which is important for a teething product and has zero holes which is one of the biggest green flags for me as nobody wants their baby sucking on mould! I love the koala design and its significance to Australia. I also love that there was an instruction guide sent with Banks which was titled ‘Using Banks to engage with your newborn’. This was brilliant! As a first time mum, it can be hard to know how to entertain and engage with a new baby and how to use toys when they are not yet able to grab or laugh etc so to have this guide available and know that I was making a difference in my baby’s day was fantastic! The story of Winnie Parkes is truely inspiring. A lot of people would give up when times get tough and find themselves searching advertisements for jobs they don’t love but need yet through the challenge of a redundancy, Winnie Parkes was born- an inspirational feat! What is even more inspiring is the fact that Lindsay goes out of her way to inspire and support other mum’s and business women to do their best and help them achieve their goals. Running a small business and family household is hard enough but she has the drive and vision to help others, including by supporting WWF through donation of profits.
Banks the Koala Rattle & Scrunch is such a clever little teething toy. I love that it is made from 100% natural rubber and organic fabrics and that it is biodegradable. I love that it’s designed with no holes so no mould! Thoughtful, cute and kind- just how baby toys should be! I am also most impressed with the sustainable packaging and that the brand supports WWF Australia with every sale.
