Calm Bitters – Pyewackets Traditional

SILVER + EDITOR'S CHOICE
Best Sleep + Calm 2026

$26.00

This tincture contains a unique herbal combination that shifts the body from ‘fight or flight’ into ‘rest and digest’, blending digestive herbs with calming nervous system herbs. It addresses both the cause and symptoms of stress-related digestive issues. One bottle makes 25 drinks.

Made with excellent clean ingredients, including Certified Organic ingredients. 100% plant-based.
Pyewackets Traditional produces in small, careful batches in Ballina, New South Wales, sourcing cocoa ethically from Living Koko, a Clean & Conscious gold winner in social impact and chocolate categories, purchased direct from farmers in Samoa. Mandarins are grown by the makers, with peel dehydrated for use in bitters. All other herbs and base alcohol are certified organic. The brand banks with a B Corp certified local bank and uses a B Corp certified superannuation fund.
Pyewackets Traditional reduces single-use drink container consumption and freight emissions by offering concentrated bitters, with one 100-gram bottle making 25 drinks to be mixed at home. The glass bottles are recyclable and designed to encourage repurposing. All herbs used are strained out after maceration and composted. Orders are shipped in compostable or recyclable plastic-free packaging. Many herbs are grown in the Pyewacket's Patch garden.
Pyewackets Traditional pays 1% of all sales quarterly to a variety of First Nations organisations as part of its 'pay the rent' initiative, inspired by over 50 years of similar campaigns in Australia. This approach is intended as a tangible way of recognising Aboriginal sovereignty and is based on the concept of contributing 1% of total revenue, similar to models like '1% for the planet'.

Product Reviews by Experts

I really really liked the flavour of this one, it’s super interesting and unique, and the strawberry gum comes through beautifully. We just had it dropped into still water and it went down surprisingly smoothly for bitters. It gives an almost instant calming effect, and the packaging is beautiful too, the paper label feels lovely and the deep colour really shows how potent it is. I imagine it would be even more special mixed into sparkling water, as they recommend. I really love the genuine localism behind this product, growing their own herbs in their garden, sourcing oat straw locally from regenerative farms, and composting all spent herbs after maceration. I also love their “Pay the Rent” commitment, giving 1% of all sales quarterly to First Nations organisations – it feels incredibly genuine. It feels like a brand that has thought deeply about responsibility at every level, not just the obvious ones.

I’ve decided it’s impossible to find a Pyewackets product that I don’t love. The Calm Bitters comes in the cutest packaging, giving off magical potion vibes, and the ingredients feel just as special. The golden, fragrant liquid is a delight to drink – my favourite way to enjoy it is diluted in still water before dinner to help me unwind and support digestion. I also can’t believe how many serves you get from this gorgeous little dropper bottle! I really love this brand and all the thoughtful touches – from regenerative farming and composting to concentrated products that reduce waste. It all feels genuinely considered from start to finish.

As soon as I read “the gift of a recharged battery” I was excited to see the naturopathic formulation that is so easy to consume via its dropper. Immediately I can see the Calm Bitters sitting permanently on my desk and an easy dose of energy I can easily incorporate into my day. I love that all herbs are Certified Organic or ethically foraged. It’s so great to see the brand has carefully considered its formulation, sourcing the highest-quality ingredients and supporting organic agriculture and ecosystems. The brand’s efforts towards sustainability are commendable, with its concentrated product that makes 25 serves in recyclable glass bottles. The Pyewacket’s Patch garden sure is impressive, providing connection to sustainability, community and seasonality.
