Clean
Made from sustainable fabric. Made with ECONYL Regenerated Nylon, a fibre made using ghost nets and waste from landfill.
Ethical
Chia Swim produces small collections of swimwear using ECONYL® regenerated nylon made from post-consumer waste and rescued debris. Their fabric consists of 78% to 90% recycled polyamide and 22% to 10% elastane. Chia Swim manufactures ethically in Medellin, Colombia and supports the "SENA Emprende Rural" project in los Andes, which provides fair wages, education and family aid to over 600 women. The brand creates timeless collections with versatile and quality pieces designed to last for various seasons.
Sustainable
Chia Swim is committed to sustainable operations and packaging. This includes cycling to the office, purchasing eco-friendly materials, avoiding plastic use and using Energy Locals to power their space. All packaging is made from 100% recycled post-consumer paper, and online orders are sent in recycled paper satchels. The Chia flagship store/office/atelier concept includes upcycled fitting room curtains, ripple bench-tops made from Magnesia Cement and custom-designed hangers made from recycled plastic. The brand's Chia swim stock is packaged in bundles made from Mahiz Bio Pack and repurposed from the plywood that was used to build their office/studio.
Responsible
Chia Swim is a purpose-driven business that promotes sustainable fashion and circular economies through its various initiatives. Their "Pre Owned Collection" gives a new life to second-hand garments, promoting conscious fashion in the community, while their "Rental Rack" allows locals and visitors to rent trendy brands before buying. The brand also offers "Bulk Beauty" featuring certified organic oils refillable in apothecary glass jars. Chia Swim values collaboration and hosts educational events to promote transparency and sustainability, and partners with only purpose-driven businesses that prioritise sustainable materials. An example of an educational event that the brand recently hosted was a tour and workshop with Monash University to showcase their sustainable approach to fashion.
