Dermagen – Propolis Balm

RRP: $30.00

BRONZE

The Propolis Balm is a soothing and hydrating product that relieves symptoms of eczema and dermatitis and aids in the healing of various skin conditions. It has a mild scent of botanical resins and oils and is free from alcohol and preservatives, making it suitable for broken or sensitive skin.

Clean
Formulated with excellent clean ingredients including propolis, manuka oil, calendula and shea butter.
Ethical
Dermagen conducts tests to verify the triketones and alpha-pinenes present in Manuka Oil samples before using them in their products. The brand manufactures its products in WA, Australia, to support the local economy. They have found a local Manuka Oil Farm in WA which yields high levels of triketones and are working to incorporate it in their future products. Dermagen provides online counselling to patients with eczema, dermatitis or TSW symptoms and refers patients to a doctor if necessary. The brand is transparent about the origin of their ingredients and their testing procedures. Their products are not tested on animals.
Sustainable
Dermagen sources Manuka Oil that is grown organically and harvested sustainably as the plants are trimmed and not killed when harvested. This method of harvesting is more sustainable and ethical compared to the harvesting of Manuka Honey. The essential oil from the Manuka plant, which has similar medical qualities to the honey, is more sustainable as it does not rely on the population of honeybees to produce the oil. Additionally, the lineage that produces the most beneficial oils is farmed, increasing the yield and quality of the oils. Dermagen plans to use Manuka Oil from a locally owned Manuka Oil farm in Perth, WA, which has invested in researching the best plants to grow to give high yields of Triketones.
Responsible
Dermagen is investing in creative start-ups focused on solutions for climate change, offers free advice and information online to support those suffering severe eczema and topical steroid withdrawal, and donates to charities such as Eczema Association Australasia and ITSAN. The brand also ensures the oils used in its products are sustainably sourced and has invested in education to raise awareness of steroid-alternatives to manage eczema symptoms and the long-term side effects of using topical steroids. The i-Therapeutic module on eczema and dermatitis management and recognition of TSW symptoms is set to be launched to pharmacy assistants and pharmacists across Australia in May 2023.

The Dermagen Propolis Balm comes in a tube which makes it easy to dispense and apply. My son had really dry, chapped lips which this balm helped to heal. My niece has suffered from topical steroid withdrawal, so I’m very impressed that Dermagen supports education around this area and alternatives to steroid creams for eczema.

I really like this product! The scent is really refreshing, it instantly took me back to memories of walking in the bush and exploring which was really nice. My son had a bit of a rash on his chin from dribbling/dummy from teething and I put a little bit on it twice a day for 2 days and it was gone! Packaging is beautiful and simple, I love the little addition of the bee.

It absorbs well into the skin and feels very nourishing. It comes out of the tube and spreads on the skin easily and a little goes a long way. I’m really impressed to read that they source Manuka Oil that is grown organically and harvested sustainably – this making it more sustainable/ethical and even better that it is sourced locally from Australia. It’s also really great that they donate to charities that relate to their kind of business including the Eczema Association.

When I first put this cream on I said aloud ‘ooooh, beautiful’! It’s got a beautifully sweet smell (like Honey). I love it as a natural alternative for eczema. Well done on their efforts in sourcing ingredients sustainably and also to their commitment to finding alcohol free solutions to fixing skin issues.
