Hemp seed oil is sourced directly from Australian farmers, with ingredient suppliers selected for safety documentation, regulatory compliance and traceability. Products not meeting retail standards are redirected to local community cooperatives at reduced cost. The entire range is cruelty-free, with predominantly vegan formulations and responsibly sourced beeswax used only where functionally required.
Hemp Collective operates with an estimated waste diversion rate of approximately 87%, redirecting most operational waste through recycling, reuse and product redirection initiatives. The brand sources hemp seed oil directly from Australian farmers, supporting a low-input crop with minimal pesticide requirements and moderate water use. Manufacturing is Australian-based to reduce international freight emissions and packaging is selected for durability, reuse and recyclability, with customer parcel packaging sourced from Australian eco-packaging providers, including compostable mailers from Hero Packaging.
Hemp Collective supports regional communities by sourcing hemp seed oil directly from Australian farmers, manufacturing locally and partnering with independent suppliers to strengthen domestic supply networks. The team volunteered and donated personal care products during recent regional floods to assist affected families. The brand has delivered a regional hemp education course and organised industry field days to educate and connect growers, manufacturers and retailers. Founder Maxine also contributes to industry development as an Executive Committee member of iHemp NSW.

Product Reviews by Experts

This product was deliciously soft on the skin and the formulation had a silkiness that definitely made me want to use it repeatedly on different parts of my body. It made my skin feel like it was being protected and looked after. The Hemp Collective is deeply embedded in the local community. From sourcing of local hemp and farming in Byron, the field days, education events and donating to local community during the recent floods and her role at iHemp, it was really apparent to me that Maxine Shea takes her involvement with hemp, and knowledge of it very seriously. I was also really impressed by the brand’s own initiatives from post to previous experience with the Waitaki Resource Exchange – it’s really clear that this brand’s ethical and sustainability practices are deeply embedded in their entire practice and not an afterthought. It’s also worth noting that 50 SKUs is not a small product range but the business appears to be managing the scale up and demand with its ethics very well.

This balm has genuinely surprised me in the best way! I absolutely love the smell and the texture is this gorgeous, velvety richness that melts into the skin immediately without any of that heavy, waxy residue. I apply this just before a day/night out on my dry legs and they look so hydrated and stay hydrated all day! Australian hemp seed oil is such an underrated skincare ingredient, and you can really feel the omega fatty acids working throughout the day. Love it! It’s fantastic to see Hemp Collective taking such a proactive approach to industry development, such as bringing together farmers, manufacturers and retailers through field days and events is a great way to build meaningful collaboration and supply chain transparency. What’s especially impressive is the creation of their own hemp education course, running for two years in the region. That kind of dedicated, structured education is where you really start to see systematic, long-term impact on the industry!

The texture of this balm was great, and it didn’t feel too oily or sticky. I found that it also worked well on dry skin and didn’t sit on top of the skin like many balms. The waste redirection rate is impressive, and I like that it’s made from locally sourced ingredients.
