Oh wow, I wasn’t expecting this beautiful tulsi tea to be so light, floral and naturally sweet (nor did I realise Kapoor tulsi tastes quite different to the tulsi I’ve enjoyed before!). Even the aroma while brewing is fragrant and feminine, and every sip is equally a delight. I love that it’s grown locally and organically, and the beautiful natural packaging looks divine on my kitchen shelf. A long, lingering hug in a cup. I love that they grow, harvest and package everything onsite, while restoring biodiversity and using less water. This shows a real respect for nature. I also love that they’re helping inspire and support the next generation of regenerative farmers.
So much love for tulsi tea in general, but more so with this Barrabup Organics product. I’m a huge fan of tulsi – this queen of herbs has been revered for centuries for good reason. I am blown away by the rich fragrance of this tea, which points to its purity and freshness. When brewing, it retains this richness. I love the versatility of the “plain” one-ingredient tea, as I have used this every day in a variety of ways. Sometimes on its own, sometimes blended with other herbal teas, and often in a home made masala chai. Impressed by the quality and would be a product that I’d purchase myself. I appreciate that the tea is labelled with the specific variety of Tulsi, as there are many. Finally, I love the earthy, minimal and wholesome branding that reflects a family-led, heartfelt approach to business. Impressed that the tea itself is grown and harvested in Australia (rare with Tulsi), minimising air/food miles. It’s also fantastic that the company has such a long term vision to care for the environment over many years, producing a sincerely organic product. The tulsi itself is very lightweight, also reducing emissions in transportation, and the packaging is also very light, minimal, yet effective.
This product arrived in a recyclable box, with recyclable tape and recyclable packaging filler in a beautiful compostable bag that held the tea. As soon as I opened the bag of tea I was drawn to the sweet smell and couldn’t wait to make my first cup. This Kapoor Tulsi tea is such a soothing and enjoyable drink and my six-year-old daughter enjoys this too. I love when I consume food/drink and have a sense of the connection and energy behind who is creating it and where it is from, and it really feels like this tea is ‘farm to cup’. I love knowing this tea was grown by passionate humans on their own organic farm in Australia. There is much I am impressed by in this brand’s ethical, sustainable and social responsibility efforts – however what stands out to me is that most parts of this product’s production is done on site, from the growing, harvesting, drying and manufacturing, reducing carbon footprint and ensuring higher quality and personal touch/love. I also loved learning that Barrabup Organics leave 20% of their land untouched as a conservation zone to protect biodiversity.
