Next-Gen Eco Nappy – Comfy Koalas

BRONZE
Best Disposable Nappies 2025

$18.95

Comfy Koalas Eco Nappies are crafted from soft, absorbent Premium Bamboo, free from harmful chemicals and irritants. Ideal for delicate skin, they prioritise comfort and safety for babies, making them the top choice for parents seeking a naturally gentle nappy solution.

Made from excellent non-toxic materials. Tested chlorine-free, fragrance-free, phthalate-free, heavy metal, latex and pesticide-free. Non-toxic inks. FSC certified wood pulp. Dermatologically tested.
Comfy Koalas produces nappies made from materials sourced in Japan, Germany and China, with manufacturing carried out in Fujian Province, China. The brand selected its manufacturing partner after personally inspecting several factories, prioritising ethical practices, bamboo expertise and environmental certifications like FSC. The brand is certified Made Safe, Cruelty Free and Vegan by SCA, aiming to create the most sustainable nappies without harmful materials. Although they considered local manufacturing in Australia, the current state of the bamboo industry there made it unfeasible. Partnering with a factory in China allows them to keep prices affordable while minimising their environmental footprint by avoiding the need to ship bamboo to Australia. The brand operates out of a combined office/warehouse in Sydney and is committed to ethical sustainability, using independently certified FSC ingredients to support forest ecosystems and communities. Their nappies have been independently tested by SGS Labs, EUROFINS Australia and DermaTest, and deemed safe by the Eczema Association of Australasia.
Comfy Koalas is committed to sustainability, aiming to eliminate plastic nappies through their product innovations. For six years, they have produced nappies primarily made from renewable materials, recently redesigning them based on customer feedback with input from over 100 customers. The improvements include enhanced absorbency of up to 1.4 liters through increased wood pulp and a new moisture-wicking liner made from PLA corn starch, while the proportion of plant-based materials has risen from 76% to over 80%. Their nappies predominantly feature bamboo and are free from harmful inks, chlorine and other harmful substances. They also employ a zero waste packaging strategy, utilising 100% certified home compostable bags created in partnership with Cardia. In 2023, this initiative prevented the creation of over 344,827 plastic packages and the brand holds FSC Certification for responsibly sourced materials, working exclusively with Certified B Corps to support sustainable practices.
In the past seven months, Comfy Koalas has donated 359,000 nappies to the Nappy Collective, assisting mothers affected by natural disasters, domestic violence and other hardships. This initiative involved logistics support from Interparcel to manage nationwide distribution. The brand also emphasises ethical sustainability by using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified ingredients to protect forest ecosystems, support community livelihoods and ensure transparent supply chains. Additionally, as a business led by families of colour, Comfy Koalas prioritises ethnic diversity in marketing, ensuring representation of families from various backgrounds in the majority of their content.

Product Reviews by Experts

What I loved most about these were how great they were on my babies skin, they didn’t have a strong chemical smell at all and were really soft. The tabs were easy to use and I found the sizing great compared to other brands (we use a size 5 huggies normally and were sent size 4 in this brand and they were the same size as huggies). They held a lot and we never had an issue with leakage or nappy rash, Im really happy with these! I love that they are a family owned and run business, I love seeing how much work is done with donating hundreds of thousands of nappies to mums in need fleeing DV or those affected by natural disasters. I also love that they are plastic free, minimising the amount of plastic going back into our environment and have a zero waste outlook!

The nappy has a lovely softness to it and fits really well- definitely lives up to the “comfy” in its name. It’s light and breathable, which I liked and it has a nice texture that felt gentle on the skin. The overall look and feel gives a sense of care in the design and I can see the effort that’s gone into making it feel more like a premium nappy without being bulky. Comfy Koalas clearly puts a lot of heart into their social and environmental efforts. Their use of certified materials, home compostable packaging and a strong emphasis on reducing plastic waste shows genuine commitment to sustainability. I was especially impressed by their large-scale donations to families in need and their efforts to keep their supply chain ethical and transparent. Their stance on representation and diversity in marketing is also really refreshing to see- it feels meaningful and intentional, not just performative!

As a mum, what I like most about this product is the minimal print on the nappies. Unlike many supermarket brands that use toxic inks and overwhelming designs, these nappies feature a simple, adorable frontal koala design made from vegetable-based ink. It’s refreshing to see a product that proves you can create something both cute and baby-friendly without relying on harmful chemicals or busy patterns. This thoughtful approach makes me feel confident and happy about choosing a safer option for my little one. I truly love and deeply value the charitable work this brand is doing- donating 359,000 nappies in just the last seven months to the Nappy Collective is an extraordinary achievement. Knowing these nappies are reaching mums impacted by natural disasters, domestic violence and other hardships makes this effort incredibly meaningful. It’s not just a generous donation, but a powerful example of real social impact that directly supports vulnerable families. This kind of action reflects a genuine commitment to social responsibility and makes me feel even more connected to and supportive of the brand.
