Ethical

Oobamboo is committed to promoting fair trade and ethical work environments in its operations and supply chains to fight against modern slavery. The brand sources its bamboo toilet paper from Yongchuan, Chongqing, China, carefully selecting its supplier to meet social standard requirements. By using bamboo pulp instead of wood pulp, the manufacturer has saved 6 million trees per year from being cut down. Oobamboo closely monitors its supplier factories, mills and farms to ensure sustainable, fair labour practices, safe working conditions and environmental responsibility. Its manufacturers have 1,600 employees, of which 1,200 are from the local area, helping to lift the socioeconomic level of the region.

Sustainable

Oobamboo utilizes 100% bamboo pulp for its products instead of wood pulp, which helps to prevent further deforestation and habitat loss for endangered and native species. Bamboo grows much faster than trees and needs to be harvested to control its growth and it doesn't require pesticides. The brand also uses recycled cardboard packaging and paper tape, and employs carbon-neutral courier companies for delivery.

Responsible

Oobamboo donates 50% of their profits to various Australian charities and ONE GIRL. Their donations include product donations to Escabags, planting trees, adopting a koala, supporting koala breeding programs at Port Macquarie Koala hospital, donating to ONE GIRL and World Animal Protection and donating products to eco projects such as the Australia Zoo Wildlife Crocodile Hunter Research Program. Customers choose which charity they would like to donate their purchase to.

I love the packaging! The colours of the boxes are neutral which I love and they fit into my home really well. I love that the tissues are bamboo, they feel quite strong, they don’t seem to rip easily like the normal tissues I use; they feel more like the texture of serviettes but still soft enough for use on the face. I love that there are no nasties and that they are septic safe since we live on a farm and have a septic tank – this is a huge plus!

I also think that it is so generous that they donate 50% of their profits to Australian charities – I really like what this brand is about and loved being able to review their products.

On the thicker, sturdier side, we really enjoy using them at the dinner table – they are perfect for wiping kids hands and mouths after eating and for a quick table clean up.
