La Mucca sources all ingredients from Australian businesses, with suet for making tallow as the main ingredient, obtained locally from a butcher known personally to the team, who visit at least monthly and observe the sustainable working environment, ethical practices and the animals themselves. The brand is operated by a two-person team. Packaging and postage materials are paper, tins and cardboard, all of which can be recycled.
Sustainable Practices
La Mucca bases its business on utilising suet, a waste product, as a core ingredient in its products. All packaging and postage materials are recyclable and the brand re-uses or repurposes items such as containers, glass jars, postage boxes and protective filling to support a zero-waste plan. Faulty stickers are used on products sold at a reduced price, with full transparency to customers, to minimise wastage.
Social Impact
La Mucca has two community-based initiatives planned for its second year of business: partnering with the Boldly Beautiful Teen Program to gift products to participating teens and supporting Mindful Mentoring and Support Services, a local NDIS company, by providing free products to people under the NDIS scheme who face challenges with personal hygiene and self-care. These initiatives focus on supporting teens’ self-esteem and assisting individuals with additional needs in the local community.
