Australian brand Zea has a commitment to natural and eco-friendly ingredients, working with farmers and suppliers who do not use harmful chemicals or test on animals. All of its products go through strict quality assurance and testing to ensure their safety and quality. The brand works with an Aboriginal consultant and educator to source many of its native Australian ingredients, and is currently working on a Reconciliation Action Plan led by the consultant. Zea is also in the process of obtaining its Leaping Bunny Accreditation.

Sustainable

Zea emphasizes sustainability in its supply chain, packaging and operations. The brand sources its Kunzea ambigua oil, which is used in its pain relief cream, through wild harvesting in North-East Tasmania, using a by-product of the plant as fertiliser. Zea also uses eco-friendly and recyclable packaging materials, including 100% recyclable tubes made from post-consumer recycled plastic and compostable mailers. Additionally, the brand focuses on reducing transportation-related carbon emissions by sourcing materials and manufacturing its products locally in Australia and using a carbon-neutral third-party logistics provider.

Responsible

Zea develops and manufactures all of its products locally, creating employment opportunities within the local community and retaining profits in Australia. As a 1% for the Planet member, the brand donates 1% of its revenue to support environmental and social non-profits. Zea also supports a variety of other organizations with values that align with theirs and is in the process of developing a Reconciliation Action Plan to engage with Aboriginal communities in a respectful manner. The brand recently became a certified B Corporation, meeting high standards for social and environmental performance, and strives to create a diverse and inclusive workplace where each employee's strengths are acknowledged. Zea also makes regular donations and offers discounts to veterans, seniors and aged care residents.

Nothing about this product can be faulted. I love the fragrance; rosemary is one of my all-time favorite scents, so I was immediately drawn to it. The cream has a lovely consistency, it absorbs into the skin really well, and doesn’t feel at all greasy. I actually suffer from severe menstrual cramps, so I decided to use this on my abdomen during this time and it seemed to give my sore muscles some relief. I love the nice green tube, which stands out amongst other packaging in this category. Love the addition of Vitamin E too!

It is great to read that the brand uses natural and eco-friendly ingredients sourced from farmers/suppliers who do not use harmful chemicals or animal testing. I love that they are sustainably responsible throughout their entire business using recyclable and compostable packaging.

The product has a smooth application and smells really fresh and rejuvenating – somewhere between the scent of a physio clinic and a wellness retreat (I think it’s the lavender).
I am also super impressed by the brand’s commitment to Australian ingredients and the consultation that goes on with First Nations people to appropriately use and apply kunzea oil.
