When I read I would be receiving wool leggings I expected thick long johns! These leggings are so soft and cosy whilst still being ultra lightweight. These are 95% wool! This is incredible and I feel so grateful and safe wearing such lovely material. They are perfect for every day wear, cool day layers, lounge, yoga, long walks, and running. They fit like a glove and I love the high waist. Really impressed. I love that these are hand sewn in Tasmania at an ethical factory that is carbon neutral and run by Hydro energy. All products stay in Australia from the sheep to the material to the sewing to the shipping in certified worm friendly 100% biodegradable packaging. I know how hard it is to take an idea in your head and see it through to a product you can wear; for them to keep all manufacturing and production in Australia is truly remarkable. Wool is incredible!
These merino leggings are breathable, flexible and comfortable to wear. Smitten Merino has been able to create a thinner merino wool legging than others in the market, making these a great option for warmer climates. My favourite feature of these leggings is their high-waisted, elastic-free waistband. The folded-down waistband is not only adaptable to one’s needs, but is currently on-trend and gestures towards ’00s activewear. I’m thoroughly impressed by how local and holistic Smitten Merino is. Its commitment to Australian-made woollen products should be celebrated, particularly the processes’ triangle of production of wool from Tassie sheep, to fabrics produced in Melbourne, to garments sewn back in Tassie. It’s exciting to see! Smitten tackles many aspects of sustainability, from renewable energy to end-of-life care. There’s a lot to be proud of.
I wore these to Pilates and was impressed with how breathable and stretchy they were. Even though they are made of wool, I didn’t get too hot or feel restricted. So much care has gone into the sourcing, the packaging and even the way they are being posted. I love that even the clothes are biodegradable.
