Best Handmade / Artisan Product 2026

$129.00

Limited-edition 100% silk scarves featuring original artworks, with a focus on female-identified and Indigenous artists, transformed into wearable pieces of art. Crafted in New Delhi, India.

Made from excellent, non-toxic materials. 100% pure silk.
Rita is committed to ethical and thoughtful production practices, working closely with artists from diverse backgrounds and focusing on supporting female-identified and Indigenous artists by transforming their original artworks into wearable pieces. Scarves are made in New Delhi, India, in limited quantities to encourage mindful production and reduce excess waste. The brand values transparency and respectful collaboration with creative partners and suppliers, and strives to work with production partners who share its commitment to fair and responsible business practices.
Rita produces scarves in very limited quantities to minimise overproduction and waste, only reprinting new pieces after previous stock has sold out. Scarves are made from 100% silk and designed for longevity. Packaging uses reusable and lower-impact materials, such as paper and cotton wraps, where possible. Production involves Australian-based printing companies to reduce environmental footprint and shipments from India are consolidated with another Melbourne-based company to minimise emissions.
Rita builds a women-focused creative network and team, with its latest collection created entirely by women. The brand supports women artists, collaborates with Indigenous artists and creatives from underrepresented backgrounds and provides opportunities to people not always seen in the fashion and creative industries. Rita ensures fair or above-average pay for collaborators when possible and supports women-led teams, aiming to create a more inclusive and supportive creative community through small collections and close collaborations.

Product Reviews by Experts

Wearable art, and it delivers on the phrase. The silk is proper, fluid and cool to the touch, and the print, an original by a female or Indigenous artist, turns a scarf into a small gallery you can knot at your neck. Limited runs mean you won’t see it on everyone. That exclusivity is part of the pleasure. The model is thoughtful from the ground up. Rita champions female-identified and Indigenous artists, pays for their work and prints only in small runs, reprinting nothing until stock sells out. That restraint is real sustainability, not a slogan. A women-focused creative network sits behind it, so the values run through the whole thing.

The beautiful, vibrant, inspiring, colourful art that embodies this silk scarf elevates anything I pair it with. It’s unique and makes me excited to share the story. Hugely impressed that the beautifully made scarves are the result of Rita working closely with artists from diverse backgrounds, with a strong focus on supporting female-identified and Indigenous artists. Only limited quantities are made to minimise overproduction and avoid waste. Reusable and lower-impact materials, including paper and cotton wraps wherever possible, form the environmental cornerstone of the brand.

I love that these scarves celebrate original artwork, allowing people to wear and appreciate beautiful creative pieces every day. The silk feels luxurious, and the timeless design makes it feel like something that could be treasured for many years. I was particularly impressed by their commitment to supporting female and Indigenous artists while creating limited-edition collections that help reduce overproduction. Their focus on fair pay, thoughtful production quantities and creating timeless pieces encourages a slower, more considered approach to fashion.
