This cute little kelp bone is such a fun alternative to the usual plastic or fabric dog toys that usually end up destroyed and ingested. The rigid seaweed really intrigued our pug puppy with its smell that caught her attention. I kept it in its cute colourful box and only let her have it for short periods of time i.e., like morning coffee time so I could have some peace and quiet! A fun and novel little dog toy that would make a great new puppy gift! I love everything about this little brand – ethically sourced seaweed, sustainable materials, plastic free and this bright colourful artistic but eco friendly packaging. Love the small business support and collabs too. Ticks all the boxes!
Kelpy bone is a simple chew toy made out of an environmentally sustainable ingredient. When my pup chews on things, they are generally very simple household items, so something simple he can be given is very useful and low maintenance. It feels nice to touch with good texture – akin to other products that could be found in Pet Barn or Pet Stock with the added bonus of being environmentally friendly. The ‘kelpy bone’ branding was a nice touch and I thought simple and well executed. I liked the multipronged sustainability approach of the kelpy bone. There’s a real benefit to using a sustainable material and sourcing it ethically – the seaweed of kelpy bone is sourced through regenerative harvesting practices that actually protect marine ecosystems and support our coastline. As well as actually preventing a dog from ingesting microplastics, it gives them an alternative – and one that naturally also sequesters carbon. This material choice has multiple benefits – it’s beneficial to our waterways, it’s a fossil-free product that doesn’t cause harm to pups and it’s also doing something good for the earth in the process.
Visually it looks very appealing, no strong odour. My dog enjoyed having a chew. I love the idea of a renewable, fossil fuel free alternative like seaweed that’s better for the planet. I am impressed by the eco friendly and compostable packaging.
