The brand is also a globally certified social enterprise, reinvesting at least 50% of profits into Indigenous communities and prioritising employment and mentoring of Aboriginal women aged 45+.
Chocolate On Purpose produces 100% palm oil-free chocolate to protect rainforests, Indigenous communities and endangered species; offsetting its carbon footprint by purchasing Aboriginal Carbon Credits supporting traditional fire management on the Tiwi Islands; ethically sourcing couverture chocolate through the Cocoa Horizons program, which ensures cacao is not linked to deforestation; reclaiming all chocolate production scraps as Chocolicious Sprinkles to eliminate waste; and using recyclable packaging, with wrappers accepted in most yellow kerbside bins or major supermarkets.
Chocolate On Purpose, Australia’s first 100% Indigenous-owned chocolate business, reinvests over 50% of profits into communities through supply chains, direct employment, mentoring and Cultural projects. The brand prioritises employment and mentoring of Aboriginal women aged 45+, creates Culturally safe, trauma-informed workplaces and donates to organisations such as The Healing Foundation and Indigenous Literacy Foundation on significant dates. It sources Indigenous suppliers, increases Indigenous grower purchases with each production run and supports Aboriginal Carbon Credits for traditional fire management, strengthening Indigenous economic participation and community wellbeing.

Product Reviews by Experts

A really cute chocolate bar with very minimal branding, focusing on the hero of the show – the luscious chocolate. It was very enjoyable to eat – perfectly balanced, smooth and indulgent. Really beautiful, transparent sourcing of cacao with an ethical supply chain that can be traced each step. The sustainable and social statements were very in depth, and it’s obvious the company cares deeply about the planet, its people and the future. It was really cool to learn that ‘chocolate sprinkles’ are collected to create zero product waste – this is such a beautiful way to honour the food. The social impact of the business is something so many businesses could learn from – what a wonderful thing it is to prioritise women over 45 as employees. Love it!

As a milk chocolate lover, this is a delicious product. I love to support Indigenous-owned businesses, and I would absolutely purchase this for our cupboard at home. Great work all round – from Indigenous ownership to thoughtful and impactful provenance of the ingredients, this is a really great, well thought out, purposeful enterprise.

This chocolate is yummy, with a subtle berry flavour. That it is organic, fair-trade, palm-oil free and supports Indigenous communities makes it even yummier. Carbon-offsetting, consideration of supply chains and Australia’s first 100% Indigenous-owned chocolate business.
