2026 Winners Announced

Soothsayer – The Urban Cottage

FINALIST
Best Calm + Sleep Tea 2026

$32.00

Soothsayer is a loose-leaf tea containing herbs from the mint family, damiana and mugwort. It brews to a blue-green hue that turns pink-purple with added lemon.

Made with excellent clean ingredients.
The Urban Cottage sources ingredients as locally as possible and prioritises organically grown botanicals. When local ingredients are unavailable, the brand partners with trusted suppliers who work ethically and sustainably with overseas growers. All offerings are made in small batches by hand by the founder in Australia. Synthetic fragrances and artificial flavours are avoided. Sourcing and packaging choices are continually reviewed as better options become available.
The Urban Cottage minimises packaging and avoids single-use plastics by packaging tea in glass jars with aluminium lids lined with cork, offering a refill option in 100% compostable pouches and operating a jar return program to encourage reuse. Incoming packaging is reused for outgoing orders, with additional ecofriendly packaging sourced from HeroPack and Heaps Good Packaging. Bath soaks use Murray River Salt instead of Himalayan salt to protect freshwater ecosystems. Products are made in small batches to reduce waste and overproduction.
The Urban Cottage prioritises working with Aboriginal-owned businesses and those meaningfully supporting Aboriginal communities and also prioritises working with Australian suppliers and small-scale producers where possible.

Product Reviews by Experts

I love that this tea has been created to accompany spiritual practices and moments of reflection. Described as both calming and euphoric, it feels like an invitation to slow down and create space for the innate wisdom within. The blend itself is unlike anything I’ve tried before, combining ingredients such as eyebright and pigeonwings to create a flavour that is subtly earthy, floral and enchanting. Best brewed by the light of a full moon, journal in hand. There is a clear intention behind the way The Urban Cottage operates. I love that they have considered everything from refillable packaging and reducing waste to supporting Aboriginal-owned businesses and local Australian producers. It’s a beautiful example of how a small business can create positive impact while staying true to its values.

I love that this tea is specifically speaking to those who experience anxiety and tummy challenges that are caused by the gut-brain connection. I have personally been affected by anxiety (regularly, very intense) on and off the past 6 years. I found this blend to be very supportive during moments where anxiety is present. I like The Urban Cottage’s sustainability efforts – particularly the refill system, and the fact these refill bags are compostable, as well as their jar return program. Small-batch production is also a great way to reduce excess and waste.

Absolutely love the fragrance, vibrant colour, and health benefits of this tea. Its gorgeous yet wholesome and simple packaging/branding makes it the perfect gift I’d love to give to others. I was impressed by the ingredient list – I researched each ingredient and found the tea has a tremendous amount of health benefits, beyond its “Anxious, Nerves, & Tummy” title. The addition of Pigeonwings was a highlight as I’ve always adored this colour (I drank it out of a 100% glass tea cup to enjoy this!). Loved to learn of the refill options and bulk options The Urban Cottage provides. This is much better value, and much better for the environment. Impressed by the thoughtful packaging details, including the internal cork inside the lid. Have never seen this before! Love that I can reuse the gorgeous glass jar as well. Mostly organic as well, which is excellent considering the herbs are not the most common found in herbal blends, therefore I can appreciate it’d be more difficult to source these organically. A gem!
